This is the biography of the Portuguese consul who saved thousands of lives during the Holocaust, Aristides de Sousa Mendes, and one of the first titles from the collection Portuguese Great Lives, published by Pato Lógico, in partnership with The Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office (INCM).

In those terrible hours, when one finds out the moral matter the true heroes and human beings in general are made of, the consul wrote, so later others could understand his gesture and the courage of his act: "All is in my hands now, to save millions of people that come from all Europe in hope to find refugy in Portugal. All of them are human beings, and their status in life, religion or color are totally irrelevant to me(...)"

Great Portuguese Lives is a collection that results from a partnership between Pato Lógico and The Portuguese Mint and Official Printing Office (INCM), and it is dedicated to the lives of important Portuguese figures, who stand out in various domains of our History.
